The name Piemonte in Italian translates to “at the feet of the mountain”, in this case the beautiful Italian Alps. This region has some of the best wine and truffles in the world, but it also is still unspoiled. In fact, it remained almost unknown to the world until the winter Olympics of 2006. My guess is that Piemonte will be the next great destination in Italy, because it brings together so much of Italy’s goodness: wine, cheese, truffle, Italian champagne, chocolate, Fiat, Nutella and quaint small villages, close to Milan and France [PLUS my favorite soccer team, Juventus!].

A perfect destination for fall travel, Piemonte combines nature’s beauty with Italy’s rich gastronomic heritage. The Langhe Piemontesi, part of the UNESCO World Heritage site that includes Langhe-Roero and Monferrato, is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes features rolling hills covered vineyards, medieval villages, and ancient fortresses. This region is celebrated not only for its natural beauty but aso for its rich wine culture, being home to some of Italy’s most prestigious wines Barolo and Barbaresco.
